Some of the students supported by the Santa Maria Education Fund also work part-time in a local sewing cooperative. This appliqué wall hanging shows Christmas night in Paraguayan style, with the yellow flower that blooms on the palm tree in the hot Christmas season, Joseph sipping the local drink terere, and the crib surrounded by offerings of sweet smelling fruit, while chickens wander by freely.
